All 30 Human Rights Visual Stories Available for Download

Toronto, 25 September 2006: All 30 visual stories based on the 30 articles of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights are available for viewing on-line or download through http://humanrights.scientology-tor.ca/psas.html.

Youth for Human Rights International and the Human Rights Department of the Church of Scientology International produced these stories as public service announcements that are currently airing on over 700 television stations around the planet.
 

Story on Quebec Duplessis Orphans Atrocities Wins National Award

Denver, 16 September 2006: At the National Federation of Press Women's annual conference and awards presentation, Freedom Magazine, published by the Church of Scientology International, was awarded as the 1st place winner in the category "Writing for the Web" for its feature article, an exposé on thousands of the "Duplessis Orphans" who died or disappeared in Quebec's psychiatric institutions.

 

New Scientology Canadian Human Rights Site On-line

Toronto, 19 September 2006: A new human rights website has been launched for the Church of Scientology in Canada at http://humanrights.scientology-tor.ca. The purpose of the new site is to provide a Canadian portal to human rights education information published by the Church of Scientology and those published in partnership with Youth for Human Rights International. Several videos of the brand new public service announcements based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are available for on-line viewing as well as publications in pdf format are available for download. A human rights blog has been established to provide up-to-date information on human rights events.
 

Ground breaking audio-visual presentation in Geneva

Geneva, 19 September 2006: Presented today at the International Conference Center of Geneva was the European premiere of a unique new human rights education tool - 30 short films which are part of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights awareness campaign implemented on five continents, produced by Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) and the Human Rights Office of the Church of Scientology International.

YHR Canada adds voice to end Darfur conflict

Toronto, 17 September 2006: To mark the Global Day for Darfur, representatives of Youth for Human Rights Canada attended the Ramsden Park rally and concert in downtown Toronto adding their voices in calling for an end to the ongoing ethnic violence in the western Sudan. The Toronto concert was one of 60 such rallies world-wide and attracted 3,000 supporters.

*New* Drug-Free Marshals Website for Toronto

Toronto, 2 September 2006: The Drug-Free Marshals of Toronto now have a presence on the Internet, with the launching of the new Drug-Free Marshals website http://drugfreemarshals.scientology-tor.ca. The site contains information about the DFM program as well as links to the new on-line drug-fact booklets on marijuana, ecstasy, LSD, cocaine, crystal meth, heroin, prescription painkillers and "kiddie cocaine" (Ritalin) as well as information on inhalants and alcohol.

"Anyone can get their child the facts about these drugs and help them understand why drugs are such a health hazard," says Melanie Dickson, DFM Toronto Coordinator. "We know that helping kids understand drugs and providing them a supportive environment is important in helping kids lead drug-free lives."

The new website promotes that individuals concerned about youth drug problems should get involved and work together to assist young people. The DFM are making available the "Truth About Drugs" Activities Manual which parents and teachers can use to start their own drug awareness activities. The site will also have the latest Drug-Free Marshal news from around Toronto and notice of Drug-Free Marshals events.
